A June 2024 report by the RAND Corporation suggests psilocybin mushrooms may be the most prevalent psychedelic drug among adults in the United States. The RAND national survey indicated that 3.1% of U.S. adults reported using psilocybin in the past year. Roughly 12% of respondents acknowledged lifetime use of psilocybin, while a similar percentage reported having used LSD at some point in their lives. MDMA, also known as ecstasy, showed a lower prevalence of use at 7.6%. The lifetime prevalence of medium-to-high dosing (3.9%) was higher than that of microdosing (2.7%). Usage patterns varied across sociodemographic groups such as sex, age, place of residence, income, and marital status.
Relation To Brandon Andres Green
- John Lennon wrote “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, a fanciful song which many assumed referred to LSD, although he always denied the connection as coincidence.
- By the early 1970s, many psilocybin mushroom species were described from temperate North America, Europe, and Asia and were widely collected.
- It has been said that some people who use LSD can end up with damage to their chromosomes, but this is a myth based on one wrong report that was disproven soon after it was published.
- It is our understanding that magic truffles are legal in the Netherlands, and in Jamaica magic mushrooms are either outright legal or the laws don’t seem to be enforced.
- On March 27, 1965, Beatles members John Lennon and George Harrison (and their wives) were dosed with LSD without their permission by their dentist, John Riley.
- Blotter Art can reach high prices, particularly when signed by prominent figures from the psychedelic movement.
LSD was used experimentally in medicine as a psychotomimetic agent to induce mental states that were believed to resemble those of actual psychotic diseases (primarily the schizophrenias). After administration, LSD can be absorbed readily from any mucosal surface—even the ear—and acts within 30 to 60 minutes. Its effects usually last for 8 to 10 hours, and occasionally some effects persist for several days.

LSD is absorbed through the skin and so “thumb-prints” (dipping thumb in bag of crystal LSD/liquid LSD) are another means of dosing. The 5S- or levo- stereoisomers of lysergamides do not exist in nature and are not formed during the synthesis from d-lysergic acid. Retrosynthetically, the C-5 stereocenter could be analysed as having the same configuration of the alpha carbon of the naturally occurring amino acid L-tryptophan, the precursor to all biosynthetic ergoline compounds. There is an old rumour that taking LSD more than seven times means that you can be declared legally insane.
Psilocybin Therapy

Many ecstasy users describe the potency of various ecstasy pills in terms of their stack such as double stack or triple stack pills. These claims are dubious as there is no way to verify potency objectively without proper testing. The term “stack” is not intended to measure potency of ecstasy pills, but it is used as a measurement of mass. Single stacks weigh in at 0.20 grams, doubles at 0.40 grams, and triples at 0.60 grams.
LSD, during its brief history, has been used both spiritually and recreationally. Journalist Tom Wolfe, in his book The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, recorded the adventures of Ken Kesey’s hippie enclave, the Merry Pranksters, who often held extravagant parties based around LSD consumption, typically consumed in spiked Kool-Aid. This includes the US, Canada, Mexico, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, New Zealand, Australia, Norway, Portugal, Russia, UK, and Brazil. The mental effects of LSD can be rapidly reversed by the IM administration of 50 mg chlorpromazine. First synthesized by Albert Hofmann on November 16, 1938, LSD went on to become a staple of the psychedelic world and the centerpiece of the 1960s counterculture. On April 19, 1943, Hofmann returned to investigate LSD further and ingested 250 micrograms of LSD.
The concentrations of LSD in urine samples were followed over time at various temperatures, in different types of storage containers, at various exposures to different wavelengths of light, and at varying pH values. These studies demonstrated no significant loss in LSD concentration at 25 °C for up to four weeks. After four weeks of incubation, a 30% loss in LSD concentration at 37 °C and up to a 40% at 45 °C were observed.
Mentale Påvirkning
Throughout the years of Project MK-Ultra, the CIA experimented with LSD and other substances on both volunteers and unwitting subjects. They believed that LSD could be used as a psychological weapon in the Cold War. Hypnosis, shock therapy, interrogation and other dubious mind-control techniques were also part of MK-Ultra. LSD users call these hallucinogenic experiences “trips,” and LSD is a particularly strong hallucinogen. Because its effects are unpredictable, there’s no way to know when taking the drug whether a user will have a good trip or not. Keep in mind that integration is even more important than the trip itself.
What Is The Probability Of Having A Bad Trip On LSD?
Ideally, the sitter is a known and trusted friend, and knows how to deal with bad trips. Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD-25) is synthesized from lysergic acid, formed by ergot, a fungus that grows on rye. It was discovered by Swiss chemist Albert Hoffman in 1938, while he was working at Sandoz. He did not become aware of its effects until 1943, when he accidentally ingested some of the chemical. LSD produces marked deviations from normal behaviour, probably the consequence of its ability to inhibit the action of serotonin, though the mechanism of the drug remains uncertain.
Interpretation of this data is generally complicated by factors such as the unknown chemical composition of street LSD, concurrent use of other psychoactive drugs, and diseases such as hepatitis in the sampled populations. Many psychonauts recommend starting with a light dose (around 50 µg) but this isn’t necessarily the best way to go.If you start at lower doses, your ego will learn how to control the psychedelic states. Because of that, it’ll be harder to let go once you move to higher doses and this can easily lead to bad trips. You will also not get as many benefits from the drug as if you were to start with higher doses. That is why in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, 200+ µg are used. It’s been shown that mystical experiences can deeply change your identity and the higher the dose you take, the more intense they will be.

The idea is to experience an enhanced “Love Flip” with a twist with the 2C-B with a smoother comedown. The whole experience is very long-lasting and can be too intense, as all of these molecules synergize and potentiate each other. Be careful, as some Mescaline cacti may contain MAOIs, which can interact dangerously with serotonergic empathogens. To avoid an excessively long list, the table below only lists recreational drug combinations that are not patent medicine. Roland Griffiths, the author of this playlist, went over hundreds of great songs and only chose the best of the best based on how his patients responded to the music. The music should be loud enough so you can hear it clearly but not unpleasantly loud.
Ken Kesey And The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
In the summer of 1969, at a rock concert in Anaheim a member of the Brotherhood appeared wearing a T-Shirt reading “Orange Sunshine Express” scattering pills of Sand and Scully’s LSD around him. Other forms of LSD include small pills (microdots), gelatine sheets (window pane), liquid, which can be dropped onto sugar cubes, and powder. There is little testing data on these forms of LSD, although some reports put the average microdot at 50mcg LSD and the average window pane at mcg LSD. Liquid LSD is uncommon and is generally (but not always) diluted to ensure that 1 drop equals 1 dose. There was a study done in 1967 which reported that LSD could cause chromosomal breakage.

Hundreds of participants, including CIA agents, government employees, military personnel, prostitutes, members of the general public, and mental patients were given LSD, many without their knowledge or consent. To guard against outward reactions, doctors conducted experiments in clinics and laboratories where subjects were monitored by EEG machines and had their words recorded.55 Some studies investigated whether drugs, stress or specific environmental conditions could be used to break prisoners or to induce confessions. The effects of psilocybin mushrooms come from psilocybin and psilocin. When psilocybin is ingested, it is broken down by the liver in a process called dephosphorylation. Physical effects may occur, including nausea, vomiting, euphoria, muscle weakness or relaxation, drowsiness, and lack of coordination.
Although Apperson and Pickard were arrested moving the laboratory from the Atlas-E silo location, they never actually produced LSD at this site. The laboratory had been moved there without Pickard’s or Apperson’s knowledge by the government’s informant, Gordon Todd Skinner. When Pickard arrived back in town and learned that Skinner had moved the lab there, they immediately began preparations to move it.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

A commonly held misconception is that phencyclidine (PCP, angel dust) is the same as (or is synthesized from) embalming fluid. Some people, believing this myth, have actually attempted to smoke cigarettes or cannabis dipped in real embalming fluid (i.e. formaldehyde), which is highly toxic. Conversely, some users of PCP-laced cannabis believe (and are often told) that it contains embalming fluid proper and not PCP, or that the slang term “dust” really means embalming fluid proper. Sometimes, the two substances are even mixed together, in a further ostension of this legend.9091 The combination might be called “fry”, “wet”, “illy”, “sherm”, “worm”, “water-water”, “amp”, “dust(ed)”, or other names. Some of the strangest urban legends told are those about lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), a potent psychedelic drug that gained popularity in several countries in the 1960s and 1970s, and experienced a resurgence in the mid-2010s to present. The drug’s relation to the 1960s counterculture was likely part of the reason for such legends.
Around the same time, bands such as Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, and The Grateful Dead helped give birth to a genre known as “psychedelic rock” or acid rock. Although the initial observations on the benefits of LSD were highly optimistic, empirical data developed subsequently proved less promising … Its use in scientific research has been extensive and its use has been widespread. Although the study of LSD and other hallucinogens increased the awareness of how chemicals could affect the mind, its use in psychotherapy largely has been debunked. It produces no aphrodisiac effects, does not increase creativity, has no lasting positive effect in treating alcoholics or criminals, does not produce a ‘model psychosis’, and does not generate immediate personality change. Because of this unpredictability, many users suggest having a “trip sitter” around during the trip, especially if it’s the first time.
